How to unblock a garden drain
If you find your garden or patio flooded after a heavy rainfall you probably need to unblock your drains. Follow these simple steps to do this:
Remove the drain cover.
Sometimes a small blockage can be cleared by plunging with a mop or a stick, but if this doesn’t work you might need to invest in a set of drain rods.
Screw two rods together and slide them into the drain in the direction of the suspected blockage.
Continue pushing vigorously back and forth. Always turn the rods in a clockwise direction to stop them from coming undone.
Continue until you feel the blockage clear.
The chamber should then be flushed thoroughly to remove all traces of debris.
